ABOUT US
INTRODUCTION ZIP TRUCK LINES, INC. was incorporated in 1972 by John and Lexie Wright and related partners (John and Lexie are now the sole owners of the company.) The business began in Moses Lake, Washington, with three trailer tractors, two set of flatbeds and one lowboy trailer. The corporate office and maintenance shop sat on six acres, located in the Moses Lake Industrial Park, for about 30 years.
1970's Specializing as a heavy haul transportation company, the company quickly expanded as the development of Central and Eastern Washington increased. Construction projects all over the Columbia Basin were delivered equipment and building supplies by our trucks.
1980's ZIP TRUCK LINES, INC. began servicing the agricultural community by hauling container freight to the shipping ports in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. Innovative ideas by the company, such as the "super chassis" enabled shippers to maximize the amount of freight that could be hauled in containers. The "super chassis", a sub-framed chassis that can stretch to accommodate heavier loads, is now utilized in various configurations throughout the trucking industry.
1990's Our tried and true strategies, along with a strong work ethic, continued to reward us as we strengthened relationships with customers and formed new ones. As regional businesses grew, so did we. Additions to our facilities included more office and shop space. And, of course, more quality drivers.
TODAY ZIP TRUCK LINES, INC. now operates with 26 tractors, 20 sets of flat beds, 5 53' flatbeds, 6 van trailers, and 3 container chassis. Additional equipment include a Hyster Toppick and three forklifts of varying capacities and sizes. Two full-time dispatchers and two full-time mechanics keep the equipment running in top condition at all times. Future growth is taking place today as the development of the new yard and larger facilities continues. Our current yard sits on 23 acres of prime industrial real estate, conveniently located along the Wheeler business corridor and along the railroad. Four large warehouses provide 48,000 square feet of storage facilities. Plenty of additional room is available for storage of containers, crushed cars, and weatherproof materials and product. In addition, our newly-installed rail spur provides convenient access to the loading and unloading of rail cars. The single-access location is fully fenced and monitored 24/7 by a CCTV surveillance system. The large, expandable maintenance shop provides state-of-the art service as the fleet of equipment continues to grow.
FUTURE Having built our company on sound financial strategies and strong relations with customers, we are looking forward to the future as new opportunities appear on the horizon. Our commitment to superior service at competitive rates will provide us with the strength and flexibility required to maintain a stable and profitable business environment for all of our customers. We also look forward to working with our customers as their needs change and in developing strong business relationships with new ones.
